NOISE PORN HAS MOVED!

That's right - after just two weeks we've decided that Blogspot just isn't big enough for us so we've pushed the boat out and bought ourselves a brand spanking new domain name www.noiseporn.com

If you've been kind enough to link to us, please remember to update your link so it goes straight to the new website - www.noiseporn.com

Thrillabeats - Let's go kill some vampires

Thrillabeats, a rising name on the Russian tearout breaks scene, are more than your average breakbeat collective - incorporating a VJ duo into their live act. Their energetic sets include menacing visuals that add a whole new level to their sound. It's at times quite a dark, breaksy sound with some definite eastern influences, but there's also lively guitar riffs and occasional underlying funk to keep things going.

Right this lovely little bit of upbeat electrohouse action just in from 4Watt from London. This is an earlier edition of his podcast and there's sure to be more on there as well, so if you like this one take a look at the others.

Young Mr. 4Watt is also a budding producer and you can check out his tunes at http://indiestore.7digital.com/4Watt. I'd especially recommend taking a look at "Change The World," good stuff - especially considering it's produced from start-to-finish on Fruity Loops.

The Wrongstar Society - "We created Hooligan Step"

Did you ever feel that Audio Bullies were quite cool but not cool enough? Did you ever feel that Mike Skinner was teetering on the edge of total brilliance but never quite made it? What was missing?

What was missing was the raw, unadulterated punky energy which The Wrongstar Society have got in absolute bucketloads. Stella-swilling, biscuit munching, Essex lads through-and-through, you wouldn't introduce them to your Mum but throw them a mike and some decks and they'll totally mess things up for you!

The critics say -

"The Wrongstars are trouble with a capital T. These boys have finally made a stand against all this bullshit music thats out there at the moment and it feels good. You can tell they have actaully lived the fights, the trouble and the carnage. If they can carry this on without getting arrested and fucking everything up, we could be looking at a very exciting band" - NME.com

"Apparently born out of a time when waiting for The Man in deepest Essex, the Wrongstar Society now have an album 'Beats, Rhymes & Conflicts' ready to go. The first taste utilises rolling breaks and twangy bass guitar, intercut with a cheeky vocal and varied beat pattern interludes. Almost sounds like a stop/start Merka cut, so it's apt that they get him to remix 'Battle'. A shouty Audio Bullys vocal is warped into a Merka shuffly thing, complete with UFO fills and squiggles. Different." DJ Mag

The DJs say

"Wrongstars have a new fresh different sound which is great for the breaks scene" - Rennie Pilgrem

"Love the Wrongstars stuff have been playing "Give it to them" loads" - Utah Saints

"Im feeling "Give it to them." Good, pushing Bass!" - Leeroy Thornhill (ex-The Prodigy)

"Love "Give it to them," will be using on our Radio One Mix" - Aquasky

If you're signed up to NSB you can get two of their tracks off their album for free (you need to register, if you haven't already I totally recommend it), otherwise go to www.myspace.com/the_wrongstars and listen for yourself.

And here's a mix they did for Rennie Pilgrem's radio show - enjoy!

Graeme Maclean - Music Crossing Dimensions

Well I just came across this guy (although I believe he once played at a night my mate ran called Traffik @ The Bongo Club) and have just been totally captivated by his latest mix. Having been worrying about all number of things all day, I've finally been able to sit down and listen to 2 hours of music which has totally captivated me and relaxed me at the same time. His absorbing styl e takes in all sorts of gently throbbing house and minimal techno, it's a joy to listen to and I'd encourage this man to get out and about playing his heart out.

In his own words taken from his wonderfully wacky YouTube channel he's "a dj/producer from Edinburgh trying to help wake up the 85% who are mentally deaf, dumb, and blind to the truth."

Well there's much more to come from this guy, but in the meantime check out the tracklist below and listen to his December podcast through this player or from the link at the bottom of this post.

First up we have Swedish DJ Gena who now plays mainly dubstep as part of All Out Dubstep, a Swedish dubstep crew. But it is was this moody breakbeat and breakstep mix, called Bumrush which caught my attention on http://www.dj-gena.com/

Secondly it's High Eight (real name Neil Briggs), who started out as one half of Future Funk Squad with Glen Nicholls. As a DJ, High Eight has played across the UK with the likes of Rennie Pilgrem, Chris Carter, Freestylers, and Stanton Warriors, and internationally at events such as the Love Parade in San Francisco, and Earthdance in LA. In 2006 Neil made his Breakspoll debut playing a set at the legendary Fabric club in London.

The mix is called "Back To Mine ish" and showcases some of the more chilled breaks sounds out there.

Glade looks to be another storming line-up on the breaks front, with the Breaksday tent alone presenting (amongst others) Aquasky, Beat Assassins, Ben & Lex, Bodysnatchers, Ctrl Z, Drummatic Twins, Elite Force, High Eight, Atomic Hooligan, Madox, Noisia, Plump DJs and Stanton Warriors. It's the only dedicated breaks tent at any festival in the world which runs for a full three days, and it's a must on the to-do list for this summer! You can buy tickets here for £125.

Meanwhile closer to home, the man behind R.I.P. (a predominantly student night which has seen Tom Neville, FC Kahuna, Hostage, Vicarious Bliss and Hannah Holland grace the decks at Studio 24, The Caves, and Liquid Rooms over the past year or so) is going out with a huge BANG after booking megastars The Freestylers for his final bash on May 17th at The Caves. Check all the Facebook info here

Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey, aka The Freestylers, have been involved into the dance scene since the late 80’s both as DJs and producers. Cantor has also recorded as Cut n’ Paste, 2 Fat Buddhas and Fresca All Stars, while Harvey has worked with Rebel MC and Definition of Sound.

They're also solely responsible for getting me into breaks with their fantastic album Raw as Fuck (which you can buy here) I saw them first at the now defunct Hi:Fi festival near Winchester (used to be Homelands) alongside Scratch Perverts and Plumps. Breaktism of fire!

Blair Harrower - Free Deep/ Tech-house Mix

Yet another mix for you all to feast upon (keep 'em coming in people!), this one from local Blair who's provided us with a mix showcasing his upbeat, building style.

You can catch Blair playing alongside his brother at Sygn Bar in the West End every weekend. He's a bit of a local hero, Channel 4 have been on his case and he's "home-grown talent" according to this April's i-on Edinburgh magazine.

Speculum Promo Mix for download

Right: Speculum, a rather irreverent outfit from the UK who were recently confused by the question "What kind of music do you make?" by IDJ Magazine. It roughly falls under techy tech-house techno? Maybe? Whatever, it's pretty good.

I don't know decide for yourself by downloading their DJ mix here or checking their Myspace.

Lots of filthy tracks on their Myspace worth having a snoop at, catch them next DJing in Leeds playing at Insomnia on 25th April 2008 or their Live set, 16th July at "No Title Electroplasm" in that very same city.

Jamie Hatkins Electro Crunk - Free thrashing electro mixtape

Really bouncy mixtape just in from Jamie Hatkins in Belgium. With tracks from Faomo, Bryan Cox, Speaker Junk and Herve it's a total pounder. Put it on if you're not sure about going out tonight and it will FORCE YOU OUT THE DOOR!

Jamie has been DJing since 2000 and started putting on nights when he wanted to throw a birthday party for himself (fair enough). He's moving into production soon and last year supported fellow Belgian Marco Bailey.

Young talent - tap it here and check his Myspace

Leópold Kristjánsson - Who dances in January? Free mix and 2 free mp3s

Right Leopold got in touch with a great new mix he's done for us. He's from Iceland but living in Berlin now, been doing his thing since 1997 and started off as a dnb junkie. He's credited with keeping the dnb scene in Iceland alive (no doubt a tough task!) - at the moment though he's moving into more house/techno and that's what this mix here is all about, called "Who Dances in January?"

He's also got a couple of old liquidy/jazzy dnb tracks available for free from his Myspace which I've helpfully linked to here. Check out Leopold & Frodo - Aphrodite's Only Child. Really good upbeat drum & bass for ya.

Really talented bloke. If you like it, he's got a podcast you can suscribe to
